EARLY BEGINNINGS – 1958

It was in early in my life that I began writing. I was 11 years old when two of my neighborhood friends and I decided to gather “news” events from our neighborhood, which was at the city limits of Johnson City at the time.  This area is off North Roan Street opposite from where Science Hill High School is built now. In 1958 that area was undeveloped and Roan Street was a 2-lane road. It was during a time when neighbors helped neighbors and were always available when a crisis arose.  My friends and I decided we would help keep our neighborhood abreast of all the “goings-on” by publishing THE RIDGEMONT ROAD FLASH.
